2008 SUMMER SESSION The Ballet Center is a nonprofit arts organization where students are encourged to achieve their own unique potential. The Ballet Center was founded on the belief that the study of dance gives students skills and creativity to develop their own personal expression. Guidance, support and challenge in a positive learning environment offer opportunities for technical and artistic growth. For some, the program will inspire a love for dance; for others it will bring them to a career in dance. The Ballet Center has a large staff of dedicated teachers from around the world. Many of our students have gone on to careers in dance. Including performing for Washington Ballet,Connecticut Ballet, California Ballet, Momex, Broadway Shows, Commercials, Modern Dance Companies and for Ballet Long Island. Some students have become dance teachers, studio owners, choreographers and dance/ recreation therapists. Little Princess Ballet (2 1/2 - 4 year olds ) A special class for the very youg child. basic dance technique, songs and dances stressing locomotor movements. This is a fun class. Tues. 9:30am _________________________________________________ Preschool Ballet ( 3 - 5 year olds) This program will inspire your preschooler and will help them develop a love of dance. Preparatory exercises, basic ballet technique, movements and choreographed routines set to music are all-important parts of this class. Four class session - $32. Mon. 9:30am Wed. 9:30am ________________________________________________ Preschool Exercise & Tumbling This is a fun class for the preschooler includes exercises - sitting on the floor and standing, basic tumbling, songs, dances and locomotor movements. Mon. 10:30am Wed. 10:30am ________________________________________________ Preschool Hip-Hop This is an exciting and fun class for the preschooler set to the latest preschool Hip Hop Music. Four Class session $32. Tues. 10:30am ________________________________________________ Preschool Ballet / Tap Introduce your child to the joy of dance in this unique class. One half of the class is ballet and the other half is tap. Students will learn choreographed songs and dances. Your preschooler will enjoy this class. Four Class Session $32. Mon. 11:30am Wed. 11:30am Thurs. 9:30am _______________________________________________ Classical Ballet Level I ( 5 - 6 year olds) Preparatory exercises, basic introduction to classical ballet for the young child. We develop coordination while kindling the imagination of your child and encourging a love of classical music and dance. This class will also increase your child's sence of balance and improve their reflexes. Four Class Session $32. Thurs. 10:30am ________________________________________________ Classical Ballet Level II ( 6 - 9 year olds ) Complete classical ballet class including barre, center, technique, adagio, and turns. Classical music is used throughout the class so students develop a love of classical dance and music that will last a lifetime. Four Class session $32. Thurs. 11:30am _______________________________________________ Classical Ballet Level III ( 7 - 11 year olds ) Complete classical ballet class including barre, center,body directions, technique, adagio, piroutte, allegro, and turns. Students will start to learn more advanced steps and enjoy the challenge of longer combinations of ballet steps. Four Class session $32. Tues. 12:30pm _______________________________________________ Classical Ballet Level IV ( 9 - 12 ) A complete classical ballet class - including barre, center exercises, adagio, body directions, grand allegro, petite allergo, turns, pirouette, port de bras and reverance. Students must have four or more years classical ballet training to attend this class. Four Class session $32. Tues. 1:30pm _______________________________________________ Classical Ballet Level V ( 12 years old to adult ) A more intensive study class including barre, adagio, grand allegro, piroutte, fouettes, beats, petite allegro, port de pras and reverance. The students are encouraged to use music to enhance movement not merely stay within the rhythmic structure but to interpret the music with ballet steps. Students are encouraged to become artists. Four Class Session $32. Wed. 7:00pm _______________________________________________ Classical Ballet Level VI ( 12 years old to adult ) Advanced level ballet class. This class is for serious ballet students, ballet teachers and professional dancers. A high level of proficiency is maintained with the study of classical ballet technique. Focus on technique and artistic quality. Complete classical ballet class including - barre, adagio, grand allegro, petite allegro,turns, pirouette, beats, fouettes, port de bras and reverance. Four Class session $32. Wed. 7:00pm _______________________________________________ Pointe Dancing on the toes. Students have strong classical ballet technique to attend this class. It includes isolations, barre, center, progressions, improvisations, dance combinations and special choreographed dance routines that encomass the many styles of jazz/ theater dance.
